About Me
I am a visual record keeper and am empowered and impassioned by travel, interaction, beauty in all its forms (not necessarily the conventional view) and the desire to create as much harmony in the world as I can through art practice.

“No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself”
-Friederich Nietsche
The value of being born into a community in Far West NSW and all that it stood for was only realised when I had experienced more of life’s challenges and grown as a person. Being the eldest child of an immigrant parent was a challenge in a traditional society with little experience of foreigners and the big advantage was being accepted by the local indigenous community and loved by a few of the non-indigenous old folk.
I was lucky enough to have some powerful influences in my early life: My Grandparents who lived in a different time frame and a schoolteacher, Bill Gregory, who encouraged me to paint, draw, sing and write. He influenced me to continue my education and was the major driving force behind me becoming one of that period’s grateful “Goughites”.

Portraits are a passion of mine. Capturing the essence of a person on the canvas is a challenge I love. I had that opportunity recently.
van Zanten has just finished a portrait of Australian film director James Ricketson. It’s her entry in this year’s Archibald Prize.
