I love working with models in life drawing classes. They are incredible people whose work is often misunderstood and under-appreciated. It is SO difficult to train your body to hold a pose for long periods of time and a teacher who understands this will ask the models to do a series of short poses to get their bodies accustomed to the next few hours of work. I had the privilege of working with some models who really knew their work, knew their bodies and how to use them. “Dancers” was created about half way through a two hour class when the models were asked to hold a pose for ten minutes at a time. When I was drawing this one I realised that the poses they held were dance poses. So sensitive and beautiful.
