There are two pieces in this mini series “Happiness” and “Sadness”. On a journey to Hermannsburg, in central Australia, I was impressed with the landscape and the indigenous people who had inhabited the land for thousands of years. It was an amazing place and I had waited a long time to be there, in the midst of the purple mountains and red, red soil that had been painted by so many artists over time. The sounds of children playing permeated the work I did there as did the red dust. I created “Happiness” and “Sadness” on the same day after my return home. I saw children running around laughing and playing and I saw children with beer cans attached around their necks with a piece of wire sniffing petrol.
They can be sold as a set or separately. Presented in a timber frame under glass.
