Hume Weir from Bellbridge

$360.00

Travelling around my local area (“local” meaning about 100km radius) I often seek out recreation reserves , parks and riverside areas in the less busy times of day. Apart from being a stepping off point for the area, they are more likely to have picnic tables or a park bench which are great places for me to spread out my paints and brushes. I often have about thirty different colours with me at one time; thats about two large boxes as well as a good fistful of brushes , palettes (to mix colours), canvases and cleaning up gear. It is so good to be able to spread all of this out on top of a thick plastic sheet and have plenty of room. Working out of the boot of my car is possible and really great for inspirational moments but not as easy.

There is a picnic area on the Bellbridge side of the Hume Weir. I often set up on the big picnic table in the shade of the permanent awning late in the afternoon to paint the ever changing view across the water. The sun, slanted low would still cause me to wear a shade and to dip my head to keep from being blinded by the glare of the light on water.

I love being able to return to a site about the same time each day for a few days wondering what I would find.

All paintings in this series are shadow-box mounted and in a show-wood timber frame ready for hanging or freestanding.
