Sheets In The Evening Breeze

It was dusk after a very hot day. I had put the carmine coloured sheets on the line earlier in the day and completely forgotten about them. Everything was still, normal in such heat then from the studio door I noticed a sudden movement. An evening breeze was ballooning the fabric slowly up like sails being hoisted to the air on a boat. It was a welcome and wonderful sight. I worked quickly and when I took the sheets from the line they were still warm.

All paintings in this series are shadow-box mounted and in a show-wood timber frame ready for hanging or freestanding.
